Electric Power Distribution Design
With extensive industry knowledge our design capabilities include proposing and developing power engineering solutions to meet any challenge.
We specify equipment according to performance and total life cost parameters, assessed in consultation with our customers. A wide technical and operational experience with all types of electrical distribution equipment, along with an in-depth knowledge of the latest materials, products and application techniques allows us to select the most suitable solution to a power distribution problem.
As part of the electrical design HVMS are able to carry out protection grading exercises, system fault level calculations, cable sizing, earthing designs, load flow and stability studies, all conducted by our in-house specialists.
Earthing design & assessment
To comply with current legislation and statutory requirements of the Health & Safety Executive and Electricity at Work Regulation, private industry and public utilities have engaged HVMS to carry out specialist earthing reports. HVMS have in-house specialist engineers with many years experience in this field, who have carried out full comprehensive surveys, studies, reports of substation earthing designs, soil modelling, touch and step profile potentials.
Condition surveys and specialist reports
HVMS conduct substation structural building examinations and assessments, inspection of plant and equipment. As part of the report we identify remedial works, associated costs and most importantly an implementation strategy. Where reinforcement of a substation is necessary or property requires change of use, we address the planning issues. Investment appraisals and feasibility studies for property procurement and disposal are often necessary. HVMS also evaluate space planning for potential growth, material and plant replacement cycles.
Safe systems of work
HVMS also provide our clients with an essential part of any and all systems, a written ‘Safe Systems of Work’ procedure.
