17 February 2010, National Electricity Registration Scheme
HVMS have successfully achieved partial accreditation for Lloyds run NERS (National Electricity Registration Scheme) operated on behalf of the UK Distribution Network Operators (DNOs), the National Electricity Registration Scheme. The scheme was established to introduce competition into the electrical services market and allow proficient and approved contractors to install electrical infrastructure to a standard acceptable to host DNO’s. HVMS have already been undertaking new connection works directly for EDF Energy and this now allows us to provide similar services to IDNO’s and others nationally.

What is NERS?
Under the scheme Lloyds perform technical assessments of the Service Providers who elect to be assessed for accreditation for contestable works associated with the installation of electrical connections. The scopes of registration includes:

design
project management
cable laying (LV,11kV,33kV,132kV)
cable jointing (dead LV, live LV,11kV, 33kV, 132kV)
overhead lines wooden pole and/or steel tower (up to 132kV)
substation installation (up to 11kV/415V)
substation installation (11kV,33kV,132kV)
all associated civil engineering works including excavation, cable laying and backfilling.
What are the benefits?
Accreditation under the scheme will provide HVMS with the following benefits:

accreditation recognised by all UK DNOs
independent assessment and registration process
assignment of an accreditation mark which will represent the achievement of a high technical, quality and safety standard
Lloyd's Register website listing of registered service providers
