In all commercial or industrial businesses, routine maintenance of low and high-voltage plant and associated equipment should be carried out as part of a regular and ongoing maintenance programme.

Such programmes satisfy various codes of practice recommended by, and in some cases by statute, The Health and Safety Executive, the British Standards Institute and the Electricity at Work Regulations.

Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 (EAWR) places a legal responsibility on employers and employees, as duty holders to ensure that electrical systems used at work under their control, are safe.

To achieve compliance with the legal requirements of the EAWR requires proof that an electrical system is safe, which involves amongst other things, proper inspection and testing of a system by competent people and the creation and maintenance of records.

The various regulations also require that personnel working on electrical systems must be suitably trained and experienced. HVMS only employ trained, Competent, Authorised and Senior Authorised personnel for work on networks.

HVMS follow strict schedules of work within a controlled and safe system of work environment, enabling a reporting system on plant condition before and after remedial treatment as well as recommendations for future consideration to be used. An extensive formal report is issued to the customer upon completion of work.
