Job Title: HV/LV Technician

8.00am – 5pm Monday - Friday
Main Purpose: The purpose of this role is to carry out the
installation and maintenance of all types of LV and HV plant including cabling,
switchgear and transformers.
Key Responsibilities:
- To understand and follow tasks instructions and ensure works are completed to the highest standards in line with the relevant regulations and manufacturers recommendations.
- To assist with cable and cable joint / termination testing
- To complete maintenance tasks on a range of LV and HV switchgear including Oil, SF6 and Vacuum insulated plant.
- To undertake the role of Site Person in Charge when required, ensuring site discipline and safety.
- To complete general installation tasks including switchgear assembly, containment fitting, earthing and cable installation amongst other tasks.
- To joint, terminate and maintain all classes and types of cables up to and including LV - 11kV
- Must be willing to work flexible hours including weekends and evening as the company requires.
- Must work well as part of a team.
- Must be willing to learn new skills.
Competencies:
- Maintain safe working practices
- Knowledge of craft skills including fitting and jointing. (A full craft apprenticeship is desirable.)
- Fundamental electrical knowledge of electrical supplies, transformer principles, the fundamentals of circuit protection and earthing arrangements.
- Proficient in use of Electrical Test instruments to verify/test electrical insulation/continuity
- Valid driving licence
- Ability to work unsupervised
- Basic IT skills
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Flexible
- Pro-active approach and a willingness to contribute new idea
