Hours: 08.00 – 17.00 Monday - Friday
Main Purpose: A good general electrical engineering background should have been gained via an industry-recognised apprenticeship scheme or through documented vocational training. Experience shall be demonstrated in the following areas:
Key Responsibilities:
• Production of switching schedules and carrying out switching on a large variety of private HV networks on commercial, industrial, construction and various government agency sites.
• Switching, testing, commissioning, fault diagnosis and maintaining of high and low voltage networks up to a minimum of 11kV (experience of networks up to 33kV desirable).
• Preparation and briefing of risk assessments and method statements for installation and maintenance tasks. Ability to take the lead in fault location activities.
• Familiarity with a variety of HV switchgear, transformers and associated cabling systems.
• Basic fault diagnosis and testing of HV/LV protection schemes. Working knowledge of the various components of a typical protection scheme and their inter-connection.
• A flexible approach to working hours is essential as evening and weekend working is often required due to the nature of the work. Overtime is paid at a premium rate.
Competencies:
• Preferably qualified with ONC/HNC or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
• Formal training and experience is required in the following areas: Emergency First Aid, Senior Authorised Persons course with recent refresher (within last 3 years).
• A good working knowledge of Electricity at Work Regulations, High Voltage Distribution Safety Rules, CDM Regulations and general Health and Safety legislation is required.
• A full UK driving licence is essential.
